Chubbsafes began all the way back in 1818 when two brothers, Charles and Jeremiah Chubb set out to embark upon a career in ironmongery. At this time, Jeremiah entered a government competition and won. The objective was to invent an ‘unpickable lock’. Not only did Jeremiah do this, but he also patented it. The lock was a success and not unpicked until 1851 at the Great Exhibition.
