Beat The Drop - Drop Testing Fire Safes

banner11iHere at eSafes, we believe that a fire safe is a necessity for every home and workplace. If a fire should ever break out, nothing but a specially constructed fire safe will keep your important documents out of harm’s way in extreme temperatures.

There’s no doubt that you’ll be putting a lot of trust in your fire safe to work flawlessly in tough conditions, so it’s important to choose one that’s been put through its paces – including drop testing.

A drop test is a rigorous process which simulates what happens when a fire causes a building to collapse, resulting in a safe falling through the floor.

During a drop test, a safe is heated to extreme temperatures and dropped from a height onto rubble, in order for testers to be satisfied that the safe won’t be damaged under the force of this type of impact.

With this in mind, we’d recommend investing in a safe from Phoenix Safe Company, one of the UK’s oldest manufacturers of safes and security products, which can trace its history back to Liverpool in 1799.

Phoenix is now the largest manufacturer of data safes in Europe with a broad range of products encompassing small domestic data protection products through to the largest commercial and banking storage requirements.

Take a look at these two Phoenix safes – they’re prime examples of drop-tested safes which you can rely on:

FF400Safe 1 - The Phoenix World Class Vertical Fire File FS2254E is fire and impact tested from a height of 9.1 metres – so you can rest assured that it will withstand the impact of falling through several floors of a burning building.

The tight construction of its body and drawer prevent smoke and heat damage, and it features a water resistant seal which guards its contents from sprinkler systems or fire hoses.

FF441sSafe 2 - The Phoenix Fire Fighter II FS0441K Safe is also drop tested to 9.1 metres, and is guaranteed to be fire proof for up to 90 minutes. It features automatic slam shut door locking and is tested to provide both paper and digital media fire resistance.

The safe is constructed from galvanised steel plate with a virtually airtight recessed curvature door, which prevents fire and smoke damage to the contents of the safe, and is insulated with fire resistant material that actively repels heat. View the safe here.
