One Tweet Delivers Knockout For Ricky Hatton

whack_the_bagHere on the eSafes blog we’re always reminding you not to share you’re location and travel plans on Facebook and Twitter (see article from September).

Last week came another reminder of why this is so important.

Boxer Ricky Hatton was burgled with money and over £28,000 in watches taken from his home in Greater Manchester.

It followed Tweets sent out from his @HitmanHatton account telling the public that he was on his way to London to film an episode of Soccer AM for Sky.

A 37 year old woman has now been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

This is just another example of why you should be careful what you post on Facebook and Twitter as you never know who is watching. It can be tempting to shout it from the rooftops when your break in the sun finally rolls around or you’re off somewhere interesting but we’d always advise caution as there are more and more examples of thieves using social media to pick their victims.
