Which Yale safe should I choose?

When it comes to keeping much loved or important belongings secure, most home and business owners opt for a Yale safe – and who can blame them?

Yale has been trusted by millions of people to protect the people, places, and possessions they care about the most for over 180 years.

The Yale safe collection consists of various sizes and security levels. And with a comprehensive range of some of their best safes – available for a highly competitive price, you should have no problem finding something suitable, here at eSafes!

Below we take a closer look at the different options available on our website, to help you make an informed decision for your home or business.

·         Yale electronic safes

Most safes within the Yale range feature an electronic lock.

These are ideal if multiple people require access to the contents held within the safe, as users can be allocated their own unique code.

To access a Yale safe, you simply have to use the digital keypad and, provided you key in the correct PIN, the safe door will open.

In case of a lockout, they come with 2 manual override keys. These should be kept in a safe place and out of reach of opportunistic thieves (and children).

The interior of the safe floor is lined with a soft fabric to ensure maximum protection for the valuables stowed inside.

·         Yale fire safes

Perfect for storing important paperwork, such as wills, deeds, invoices, passports and HMRC letters, these safes can withstand temperatures up to 972°C, humidity and other forms of attack.

Available in medium, large, or extra-large, these safes have a high-security rating and provide up to 60 minutes’ fire resistance – allowing you to keep your valuables intact in the event of a house fire.

A Yale fire safe has 18mm secure locking bolts on the hinge and frame side which help to keep documents and possessions safe.

If you’re worried about someone accessing your safe while you’re away – fear not, these Yale safes have a lockdown mode that locks the touch screen for up to 48 hours. If the wrong PIN is entered 5 times, the safe will automatically lock down to protect the items held inside.

·         Yale high-security safes

These safes are for those items you can’t afford to lose or break, like important documents and irreplaceable items.

They incorporate laser-cut steel doors and anti-saw locking bolds that prevent burglars from being able to force your safe open with tools. They have an anti-pick lock mechanical override function, too.

High-security home, office, compact, and laptop safes can be accessed using a 4-8 digit PIN, master code via the LCD keypad, or a mechanical key.

An internal light allows you to see your valuables whilst hooks make it more convenient for you to keep your belongings organised and easily accessible for when you next need them.

·         Yale laptop safes

Boasting solid steel construction, a Yale laptop safe is a must-have if you’re to keep private and confidential data secure in your office.

They’re also useful if you’re a student wanting to protect your brand-new MacBook – ensuring it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands or damaged before you submit your assignments.

These safes come with DIY fixing kits (including bolts) and can be fixed to the floor or wall – making it difficult for intruders to remove your laptop and/or safe.

Despite their slim, compact design, Yale laptop safes can stow almost any gadget – be it a tablet, phone, Apple Watch, or camera, as well as USBs or external hard-drives.

·         Yale Value safes

Ranging from small, home, laptop, or office, there are several options available for Yale Value safes.

These provide a good level of security for those items you need daily (i.e. cash, bank cards, passports, keys, etc.) and can be used at home or in the workplace.

Usually accessed via a 3-8 digit PIN that’s easy to set and change, they come with 2 keys in case you forget the code.

The Yale Value series features an auto lockdown function which means that, after three incorrect PIN entries, the keypad will lock for 20 seconds. If there are further failed attempts, this extends to 5 minutes.

It also has user-friendly status indicators – green for open and red for an error (or flashing red to signify low battery).

·         Yale Value alarmed safes

Much like any other Yale home safe, these provide a basic level of security for your belongings and offer more than 100,000 locking combinations.

However, something that makes the small, medium, large, and laptop alarmed safes stand out is they also feature an integrated alarm to safeguard your valuables from intruders.

If an incorrect PIN is entered three times, the built-in 130dB alarm will sound for 1 minute. To turn the alarm off, you’ll need to enter the correct code or use the key supplied with the safe.

If two further incorrect PIN entries follow, the alarm will sound for another minute and the keypad will lock for 3 minutes. Again, you’ll need the key to stop this.
